This dramatic novel from the renowned Trinidadian writer, Michael Anthony is drawn from the historic oilfield riots of 1937 - a significant event in Trinidad & Tobago’s history that led to constitutional changes such as the Adult Franchise Elections of 1946 which directly opened the road to the country's Independence 16 years later.Kid Fearless has two fights to worry about. There is his upcoming boxing bout with Young Tiger, who is expected to eat the inexperienced Kid raw. And then there is the fight by Trinidad's oilfield workers for better wages and conditions. It is this second fight that preoccupies Kid Fearless. Butler is the only man who can stand up to the exploitative oilfield management, and even the British government, to win them all a fairer living wage. However, Butler can be rash, needing to be protected from his own actions as much as from those of his enemies.About the author: Michael Anthony was born in Mayaro, Trinidad, in 1930. He was educated at the Mayaro R.C. School, and the Junior Technical School of San Fernando. In 1954 he emigrated to England, where in 1963 he published his first novel, The Games were Coming. Before leaving England for Brazil in 1968 he published two further novels, The Year in San Fernando and Green Days by the River. He was also a contributor to the BBC programme Caribbean Voices. Since returning to Trinidad in 1970 he has continued to publish fiction, and has also researched and written a number of historical works, including The Making of Port of Spain and a history of Trinidad Carnival. Butler, Till the Final Bell is his twenty-fifth book. Please note that this is an eBook version of this title and can NOT be printed.
