INTRODUCTION
This book is designed to give practical insight into the workings of music mathematics principles used in the Jamaican and Caribbean curriculum. Music
has always shared its link with Mathematics after the Greek Philosopher and Mathematician; Pythagoras researched and noted his findings on the vibration of
a length of string.
This author intends to show some of her experimented teaching methods and strategies utilized for over twenty-five (25) years, for example, the link between the length of a pipe in a pipe instrument and the length of a ruler are examples of tools which will be used to demonstrate these principles of Mathematics in Music.
It is hoped that all will see an easier way to explain mathematics tenets and principles to the students, as well as an easier way for students to learn music
with mathematics principles.
